Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson

let's pretend this never happened book review

I’m going to go ahead and give myself away here. I have a limited sense of humor. I think like two things are funny – 83% of gifs and Paul Rudd. So, basically this:

I tend to be turned off by anyone trying to be funny, hence my dislike for most comedies (Paul Rudd slips by because look at him). So, when my book club decided to read Jenny Lawson’s Let’s Pretend This Never Happened this month I expected to enjoy it, but not nearly as much as everyone else seems to have.

I’m so glad I was wrong.

I resisted. I fought against the giggles in the early taxidermy-ridden chapters, but by the time Lawson began detailing her Post-It conversations with her husband and her experiences in human resources, I was full on laughing out loud. Her voice is irresistible. If she can get through to me, she’ll win over anyone.

Now I guess I need to find a taxidermy squirrel puppet gif?
