It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

I’ve finally had some time to sit down and get into local author Virginia Pye’s River of Dust, which has started to grow in depth and story as I’ve moved through.

I’ve decided that I’m going to try at least part of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell in audiobook, which I haven’t really jumped into, on my way to and from work. We’ll see how this goes!

The Woman Upstairs by Claire Messud arrived on my porch last week and eagerly picked it up last night. The first few pages blew me away, so I’m quite excited.

  • I hope you like Strange and Norrell, I loooved it :) I’ve been hearing some great buzz about The Woman Upstairs, can’t wait to hear what you think!

    Have a fab week Shannon!

  • Great lineup!

  • I hope the Woman Upstairs continues to impress.

    Have a fab reading week!

  • I just reviewed The Woman Upstairs! Here’s my review (ultimately, kind of lukewarm, but there was a lot to like about it): http://readlately.com/?p=232

    • It seems like there’s been pretty polarized reviews, especially since the whole interview controversy popped up (I’ve tried to avoid reading any of it so it won’t impact my reading much). Going to check out your review now!

  • Hmm, I’m reading A Train in Winter for my book club and some businessy books for myself.

  • A Train in Winter sounds like a good one!

  • Even if we ultimately disagree I’m glad to hear the first pages of The Woman Upstairs hit you. Probably TMI but it felt like a manifesto to me and after that the book delivered- but plenty of people are whining about how unlikable Nora is. I imagine you know what I think about that!
