It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

River City Reading, What Are You Reading?

Thanks to an unexpected snow day, I had a little bit of extra reading time last week. After finishing the books I started last Monday, I also squeezed in The Man Who Walked Away by Maud Casey. Right now, I’m in the middle of Long Man by Amy Greene and Nickolas Butler’s Shotgun Lovesongs

If any of you are Tumblr users, or just like the platform, I set up a Tumblr account for River City Reading. I used to have a personal account and have been missing it, so I’m happy to be fumbling back around the Tumblr-verse. While my account is definitely still bookish, it’s not just a re-hash of the blog, so feel free to follow!

And if you haven’t entered yet, today is the last day to win a copy of Mary Coin to celebrate my first blogoversary.

  • Oh my goodness, love love love the image on this post! Did you make that in PicMonkey? You inspire me to think outside the box with all the tools at my disposal over there…

    • Thanks! Bad news is that this one is Photoshop :( But you might be able to do something similar with the stamps underneath a collage layer in PicMonkey?

      • Hmmm maybe so. I have Paint . net which has a lot of Photoshop-like capabilities. I should spend an afternoon goofing off with it.

  • Stunning new image! I’m reading a huge book full of the correspondence between the Mitford sisters, spanning over 50 years.

  • I haven’t heard of any of these but I’m glad you are enjoying them. Snow days do give unexpected reading time. With ours today, I plan to read a bit more too. Come see my Monday report if you get a chance. Happy reading!

  • The Man Who Walked Away caught my eye. Look forward to hearing more about it.

I can always count on discovering new books when I visit your blog. I really like the image you used to portray your books this week!
    Happy Reading!

    Bits & Bobs

  • Cannot wait to read Greene’s latest and Butler’s debut. Over the weekend I started FROG MUSIC which was a bit sluggish at the start. Hoping it picks up. Enjoy your week!

    • Long Man has been a little slow for me, but I’m still enjoying it. Shotgun Lovesongs is such a sweet little thing (the Midwesterner in me can’t resist). Definitely hope Frog Music picks up, I’m really looking forward to that.

  • Hooray for snow days! Nothing wrong with some extra reading time :)

    Love your graphic this week!

  • Lindsey Stefan

You manage to have three books I’ve never heard of! Off to goodreads I go. Have an awesome week!

  • Wesley

Unexpected/Self imposed snow day for me today too!
Reading “Chasing Chaos” and “Give War and Peace A Chance”. Putting in a lot of reading/blog prep time today since it’s a mess outside!

  • Jennifer Smeth

Yay for snow days! I knocked out some serious reading last week thanks to being iced in!

    • I have a soft spot for being camped in for a few days, it’s nice to be forced to do nothing but lounge around for a little bit :)

      • Jennifer Smeth

        I agree!

  • That was the best thing about the snow days – the unexpected reading time :-) Although I spent mine slogging through a book I’m not really enjoying. Almost finished though *yay*

  • Oh my gosh I love every single one of those covers!!! Going to look them all up. Although I think I have Shotgun Lovesongs somewhere around here. It looks vaguely familiar.

I LOVE snow days!! I am retired now, but used to love them unless we got too many and lost vacation days. :)

ENJOY your reading week. Looks like you have some good books for yourself.

My It’s Monday, What Are You Reading

  • It’s Monday and I’m reading bits of all my library books, to see which ones I’m going to read all the way through and which ones I’m going to maybe read another time.

  • What great book covers! I hope you enjoy reading all of them. I’ll be looking out for your reviews soon :)

  • I’m just about to start Shotgun Lovesongs today. i love the title and it seems promising.
