Belzhar Romanov Sisters Cutting Teeth

It’s Monday June 2nd, What Are You Reading?

Belzhar Romanov Sisters Cutting Teeth

It feels pretty great to be back at home and (somewhat) well rested after BEA. Though it was a fantastic week, my reading struggled a bit since my time was basically limited to traveling. Meg Wolizter’s Belzhar was my BEA “must get”, so I couldn’t stop myself from reading it on the train home. It’s just…so good, you guys. I made it about halfway through The Romanov Sisters by Helen Rappaport, which is a wonderful historical chunkster.  And I’m just now starting Cutting Teeth by Julia Fierro.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • This looks like a post to show off that you have Meg Wolizter’s Belzhar :P

    Happy reading

  • Belzhar! Belzhar! Belshar!

  • Just the cover of Belzhar has me wanting to read it. I didn’t much enjoy Cutting Teeth, I hope you like it better.

Have a great week recovering from BEA

  • Totally envious of the Wolitzer since I LOVE HERE!!!! <3 Big gooey hearts. I also think Cutting Teeth sounds amazing. On the wishlist they go.

  • All of these are new to me. I’m glad you got the book you wanted at BEA. Came see my week here. Happy reading!

  • I’ve heard good things about Cutting Teeth! I’m reading Clothes Clothes Clothes, Music Music Music, Boys Boys Boys – Viv Albertine’s autobiography.

  • Enjoy your books. I like the design of your blog.

  • Words for Worms

I’m so glad you got your Wolitzer! I was SO HAPPY when I saw you got a picture with her, too. Adorable fangirl moment!

  • Enjoy all your new books! As for me, I just finished Paul Acampora’s I Kill the Mockingbird (I love anything related to To Kill a Mockingbird!), and now I’m reading Kate Bracy’s That Crazy Little Thing.

  • I just finished Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands by Chris Bohjalian (OMG so good), and now am reading Perfect by Rachel Joyce

  • Tanya M

Ohhh, those all look like books I’d enjoy. Yay for BEA, can’t wait to read all about it!

Here’s my weekly recap and hope you link up too!

  • I’m still trying to catch up on sleep :P And I’m halfway through Belzhar, and I second your “so good!” I wasn’t sure about it at the beginning (the obsessive teenage “I only knew him 41 days but he was my LIFE” thing), but now I don’t want to put it down!

    • I was a little worried that it would be too YA for me in the beginning, too (I could feel Wolitzer’s voice there, but I thought she might be reaching for an audience). I can’t wait for you to get to the end so we can TALK!! (Though I don’t think the end-end, like last two pages, are perfect…)

  • I’m starting The Romanov Sisters soon!! Finished Cutting Teeth a few days ago… I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts but just remember, that is just one whacked out mommy group. Don’t let it scare you!

  • Love the cover on Cutting Teeth! I’m reading A Human Being Died That Night, which is about one of the death-squad guys during apartheid. It’s very very interesting, and much less upsetting (so far) than I was afraid it might be.

  • AnnabelSmith

Just added Belzhar to my TBR, goodie. I’m reading Nabokov’s Pale Fire. It is a story told through a poetry book, and an editor’s commentary on the poetry – very funny and sad and unlike anything I’ve ever read.
