It’s Monday October 20th, What Are You Reading?

monday

Are we all ready for another week? I managed to catch up on a bit of rest after finishing three books during Saturday’s Readathon and was able to wrap up the rest of Sara Levine’s Treasure Island!!!, too. I have a tiny bit of Brutal Youth left and then I’m jumping into Dr. Mutter’s Marvels and Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage, which is my book club’s pick for the month. It’s hard to believe we’re so far into October already, especially when we’re keep having an 80 degree day pop up, but I can’t complain about the Fall reading!

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • I need to read Dr Mutters Marvels too!

  • I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts about Brutal Youth…I’ve seen it around! Hope you enjoyed the Readathon and the occasional 80 degree days (we’re in the 40’s this morning, so I’m definitely jealous!).

    • It’s been a little uneven for me so far, but it has a great premise (and so many other people have loved it).

I keep meaning to read an Alive Munro book. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on this one.

Dr. Mutter’s Marvels looks like a great Halloween read.

Love your display of the covers.

ENJOY your reading week…I always love stopping by your blog.

  • Oh, I should read Dr. Mutter’s Marvels! The Mutter Museum is just around the corner from where my children take Spanish. My youngest, who is only three, loves that museum. It’s strange to take such a small child there (I almost didn’t do it!), but we decided that it’s better that our children not fear such things.

  • Dr. Mutter’s Marvels sounds like exactly what I will need once I finish watching The Knick!

  • What a group of great covers! Glad to read that you had such a great read-a-thon! I was hoping that mine would have been a bit more productive but c’est la vie! Onto the next bookish week!

  • Anita LeBeau

I’ll add that I too want to read Dr Mutter’s Marvels. Ever since Jenn Lawrence mentioned it. Might need to check library.

  • My husband and I took our son to the Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities in Philadelphia last year–yes, this exists, with the collections of Dr Mutter! It was very interesting, but also a little freaky and disturbing. I had to sort of look at the exhibits with one eye shut. My eleven year old thought it was spectacular, of course.

    • I think it would definitely be fun to visit, especially after reading the book!

I have been to the Mutter it is indeed fascinating. There is a similar museum that used to be at Walter Reed here in DC (not sure where it is now) that is less refined than the Mutter but has a more fascinating collection. Like a hairball from the stomach of a girl who had been eating her hair for 6 years.
