It’s Monday, October 19th. What Are You Reading?

It’s definitely a happy Monday, you guys. The GRE is officially over (and decently passed), which means I just have to tie up a few loose ends on my grad school application. By November 1st, everything will be turned in and I’ll just have the task of waiting. We’re still hoping everything will fall into place with our house, but that’s a whole other realm of nonsense filled with much more waiting.

The upside is that, thanks to the Readathon over the weekend, I feel like I’m regaining my reading focus. I was able to get through four (short) books on Saturday, including The Glacier by Jeff Wood, Accidental Saints by Nadia Bolz-Weber, Notorious RBG by Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, and Radioactive by Lauren Redniss. I absolutely loved Notorious RBG and Radioactive, and was surprised by how much information both packed into small, accessible spaces (they would be perfect picks for the upcoming Nonfiction November). Now I’m moving on to Unfinished Business by Anne-Marie Slaughter, which is already pretty highlight-worthy.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • RBG is on my Christmas list (or will be). She’s a boss!

  • Ooh, I must investigate the RBG!

  • Congrats on your GRE – that’s awesome that you have that (successfully behind you! And I’m interested in the Slaughter book….loved her article.

I think Unfinished Business and Accidental Saints will both end up in my library pile before too long. Have an awesome week!

  • Woo hoo!!! Congrats on getting the GRE behind you; that is so great, Shannon! Unfortunately, I didn’t get much read during Readathon; marathon training was cramping my style on Saturday, but I did manage to finish City on Fire by early Sunday. I’m so glad you enjoyed your selections and that you’re getting your reading “groove” back!

  • Hooray for finishing the GRE!
Notorious RBG and Radioactive sound great to me, then to see that you loved them both… #excited!

  • Amanda

So glad you loved RBG! Congratulations on getting through the GRE!

  • I wanted to basically go through and highlight all of Unfinished Business. It’s such an important book.

Glad you had a successful readathon!

Congrats on the GRE!!! I can’t wait to read Notorious RBG, and Radioactive is on my list as well.

  • Sounds like the readathon gave you the perfect excuse to relax and read after the busy time.

  • Congratulations two-fold! Passing the GRE? I knew you could do it. Getting your reading focus back? The readathon served you well. Now, it’s onward to selling that house.

  • So glad the GRE is done and done well! And that the readathon helped you get your focus back. I’m hoping it did the same for me! :D

  • Unfinished Business was such a great read! My review was chock full of quotes from it, ha ha. I hope you continue to like it and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

  • Congrats on putting the GRE behind you. Sounds like you’re back focused on reading. Enjoy.

  • Yay for you … congrats on the GRE! :) Happy reading — you’ve certainly got some great books there!

  • Congrats on finishing the GRE! I think the read-a-thon helped me get back to reading more too :) Thanks for the Nonfiction November shout out!
