It’s Monday, December 21st. What Are You Reading?

There’s some natural law that connects illness and vacation, right? I was barely two days into my break when the sniffles started. Thankfully, we don’t have any big plans for Christmas, so as long as I’m better before the move I can’t complain too much. And being sick does give me a good excuse for PJ’s and blankets, so I’ll take it.

I went almost all week without picking up the books I shared last Monday, but finally managed some time over the weekend. I’ve been feeling so picky about everything I look at or flip through, which is a frustrating type of end of the year slump. I settled on Alexandra Kleeman’s You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine and I’m loving it. Ten points to the Tournament of Books Long List. I also started reading The Queen of the Night by Alexander Chee, which is my first 2016 title…there’s no turning back now.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • I’ve heard so much crazy hype about Queen of the Night. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

    Hope you feel better pronto!

  • Ugh – I’m sorry you’re not feeling well and had a mini-slump! Not the time of year for that. I’ve been hearing about Queen of the Night for awhile now and will be interested to see if you think it lives up to expectations. And – love your new look – I’m so impressed with how often and seamlessly you update your theme!

  • Oh no! I hope you’re well before Christmas. You’re right, it does seem like I always get sick at vacation. I know I did last year. Feel better, enjoy the pjs, the blankets, and the rest!

  • I hope you’re feeling better fast and that something wonderful sneaks up on you and becomes a fave right here at the end of the year. <3

  • You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine looks very different and interesting. This is not the time for sniffles. :( Feel better soon!

Yes.. getting ill when your holiday comes is a rule. Hope you will recover soon. Good luck with the move!

  • Hope the sniffles depart soon. Your reading looks fun, great titles – very eye catching. Have a great Christmas.

  • It’s Monday and I have read absolutely nothing so far today! I have a book about being in a circus and a book about being a Mormon missionary, and I’m hoping to read at least a few pages of each before I go to bed tonight. I did finish Wolf Hall last night though! It was really good.

Yes – there is a connection between illness and time off. I got sick last week (a cold in summer???) but it thankfully cleared up a couple of days into my holiday leave. Although, I secretly wish I was still sick so I could stay in bed. I hope you feel better soon – make sure you take full advantage of snuggling under the blankets.

  • I’m so glad you’re loving You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine!! You must talk to me once you’re done with it. I don’t know anybody who’s read it haha. P.S. I love your new layout, it’s so cute, good job

  • I’m curious about The Queen of the Night. Mozart wrote an aria for the Queen of the Night in one of his operas. Could they be the same?
