Paradise Now and Ways to Disappear

It’s Monday, February 1st. What Are You Reading?

Paradise Now and Ways to Disappear

So, last Monday we were buried in snow and this week it’s in the sixties? Hmmmm. I thought I would have some fancy pictures of our amazing new bookshelves, but once we got around to unboxing everything we realized that three of the six doors were cracked straight in half. Hooray. I was so close to being unpacked, but it looks like those book boxes are hanging around for a few more days.

It took a little bit of back and forth this week, but I think I’ve managed to settle on some good reading. And Again just wasn’t begging to be picked up, so I set it aside and (after sampling a few other books) landed on Ways to Disappear by Idra Novey. I’m still early in, but really enjoying it so far. The same goes for Paradise Now by Chris Jennings, which I’ve been looking forward to for a while.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • Sigh. As long as I follow your blog, I’ll never get on top of my TBR pile. (Who am I kidding? I don’t need your help! haha) But really, Paradise Now sounds fascinating. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

  • I haven’t heard of these books, but love the cover art/design on them!

  • JoAnn @ Lakeside Musing

I always discover the most interesting books here…
Can’t wait to hear more about both of these!

  • I’m excited to get to Ways To Disappear… should be coming up soon for me! Glad to hear it’s grabbing you so far. Bummer about the bookshelves, but I’m sure they will look fab when it’s all said and done!

  • I’m with Monika. As long as I follow you, my TBR will be diverse and super interesting.

  • I’ve seen Ways To Disappear, but the description wasn’t grabbing me. I think I will wait for your final thoughts!

  • This weather is crazy, right?! But, it’s my favorite kind of snow…comes, we get a week of good sledding, then it gets warm and it melts. Last 2 years, once the snow fell, it hung around for 3 months b/c it was so cold. Glad you found some good reading – I’ve heard good things about Ways to Disappear!

  • Texas has schizophrenic weather right now, too. We’re in the 70s right now, and I think it’s supposed to freeze for the rest of the week. That is SUCH a bummer about the doors on your bookshelves being cracked. That would’ve been tantrum-worthy. I hope you can get it sorted soon!

  • I’m interested in learning a little more about Ways To Disappear – that’s a new to me book. Happy Reading!

  • It’s been in the 20’s here last week, then the upper 60’s, and tomorrow is due to be 70! All before the snow that suppose to be coming back. E. TN weather is crazy. I’m sorry about your doors; that has to be disheartening after all the packing and moving and trying to get settled. :( I’ve been pretty curious about Ways to Disappear, so I’m interested in your take on it.

  • Ways to Disappear looks interesting.

  • Ooh, I feel like I could really sink into something like Paradise Now.

I hope your next bookshelf set isn’t busted!

  • I was just reading about Ways to Disappear! I ended up deciding I wasn’t going to add it to my list YET, until some blogger reviewed it positively, or not at all if nobody ever did. So. I mean. No pressure but it all hinges on your report. :p

    • It’s not absolutely mindblowing, but I am enjoying the unique perspective (most of it is written from the POV of a famous author’s translator).

  • I hadn’t heard of either of these books yet, but they both sound interesting :)
