Tender and While the City Slept

It’s Monday, January 15th. What Are You Reading?

Tender and While the City Slept

It’s a huge bummer to look back at my Monday posts and see how many books I’ve started and set down lately, but I feel like I finally had a reading breakthrough this weekend. Our power went out early yesterday morning, which meant I had a good excuse to ignore some work I planned to do and snuggle up with Belinda McKeon’s Tender for several hours. I’m just halfway through, but totally in love with the writing. I also picked up While the City Slept by Eli Sanders, which is one of the nonfiction titles I’ve been super anxious to read this year.

Saturday marked my third year of blogging just as Book Blogger Appreciation Week rolled around starting today. I won’t be hopping in on every single topic, but there will be an extra bit of blog love this week. The first day is all about sharing the books that represent us and it just so happens I already have the River City Reading Recommendation Starter Pack. I knew I’d be able to pull that out of my pocket someday!

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • I’m so glad to hear your thoughts on Tender! I’ve been anxiously awaiting release date for that one, so hope to start it as close to Tuesday as possible. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on While the City Slept…I sampled that recently and ended up not buying the whole book, but could definitely go back to it later. Just wasn’t in the mood for it right that second. Glad your slump has been busted!

    • I’ll definitely fill you in on While the City Slept – the reviews are SO good for it, I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations!

  • I have heard so many good things about Tender – it sounds like the perfect slump-buster!

  • I can’t even write a Monday post because I’m reading the same ones-again. Aaand I’ve put down so many it’s ridiculous. Thank goodness for Blog Appreciation week!

  • Tender sounds preeetttty great, so can’t wait to see how that one turns out for you. As an aside, I’ve been having the STRONGEST urge to forgo everything I’m currently reading and “should” be reading and pick up The Wife. Might just have to do that if my current reads don’t kick it into gear a bit.

    • Man, that giving up feeling is exactly what I felt all last week. I totally hope you get to The Wife soon – it’s so good!

  • Happy blogiversary! Both of these books look really good, but I’m (surprising myself) actually leaning toward While the City Slept more in interest. I hope they both work for you. I actually DNF’d TWO last week.

  • Words for Worms

Happy Blogiversary, my dear! I trust Tiny Beautiful Things made your list? I’m going to go a-clicking but I just have this feeeeeeeeeeeeeeling…

  • “While the City Slept” sounds fascinating! I may pick it up the next time I’m looking for some non-fiction.

  • I am happy to see Tender on this list and hear that you enjoy reading it. I am first in line for it at the library, so hopefully, it will get to me soon.

  • Not tooting your own horn with your good news today, like me? ;)

I’m glad you’ve finally found a book to click with—I know it’s been a slow start to the year reading-wise! I hope the second half of Tender is just as great.

I *totally* forgot BBAW started today, oops. Guess I should go draft my second post of the day…

  • I haaaaaaate being in one of those reading phases where I can’t commit to anything. It bums me out! The nice thing is, I’ve just started a Tor novella that’s totally gripped me, and I can’t wait to talk about it on the blog soon. I haven’t been totally ON with my blogging mojo lately, so it’s nice to be able to feel excited about writing a review post.

    • I was thinking of picking up something short if I didn’t find something soon – smart choice!

    • I want/need to know what this Tor novella is, pleeeeeease?

  • Great that you finally found a book to draw you in and hopefully onwards and upwards from there. Enjoy Blogger Appreciation week.

  • Ti Reed

Ohhhh, I love the new blog look.

  • Congrats on the three year blogging anniversary! :)

  • I’ve also been looking forward to CITY, but who knows when I’ll get to it. I hope it’s good enough that you don’t put it down, I look forward to your thoughts.

  • I want to pick up Tender so badly but am trying to be disciplined and finish the six or so books I’m already reading. But since I’ve been in the same nothing-is-sticking place as you, I’m thinking I’ll get to it sooner than later. Look forward to hearing what you think of City as well!

  • I can’t wait to see your review of Tender!! I keep seeing you gushing about it, but I don’t know what it’s about! I mean theoretically I could look it up…. but I mean I don’t want to put you out of a non-paying job. You’re welcome.
