It’s Monday, October 3rd. What Are You Reading?

Now that we finally made it through September (I’m with Eva, it felt like the LONGEST month), I have a feeling October is going to fly by. I already feel a few days hanging over my head, in the looming sense, and a few days I can’t wait for. More than anything, I think I’m starting to feel the drain of a month’s worth of go-go-go catching up to me and I could probably use a nice, long nap.

I started and finished Wonder Women by Sam Maggs, which was great. I’m hoping to have a review up later this week. Now I’m reading The Guineveres by Sarah Domet and giving Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton another shot, after starting it and losing track among other things earlier this year. I’m going audio this time and I think I’ll be listening to it for the rest of my life, but I’m definitely enjoying it.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

  • I started Did You Ever Have a Family by Bill Clegg on Friday and am almost half way through (if I didn’t have a toddler I’d be done). It’s so sad, but I can tell that there’s some hope buried in the tragedy.

  • Karen

I just finished Madeliene Thien’s Do Not Say we Have Nothing (shortlisted for the Booker and the Giller) which was wonderful. about to pick up something new but don’t yet know what

  • BethFishReads

Ha! I’m reading the Gueneveres right now too!

  • I feel like everyone is reading Guineveres! I’ll be interested to know how it is (and whether I should read it). I also have Wonder Women sitting on the floor by my bed…maybe Nonfiction Nov candidate.

  • Kailana

I am seeing The Guineveres everywhere. I like the idea behind it. Hope it is good!

  • I just finished The Guineveres. It brought up so many memories for me! A friend of mine read Hamilton and it did take a really long time.

  • I’m so glad you’re reading Wonder Women! I want to give a copy to every woman I know. :)

  • The Guineveres is everywhere! I love it :) I have it on my kindle, so I’m excited to dive into it later this month. I definitely want to read the Chernow book, but I’m trying to think when would be a good time. It seems like a book I will have to really spend time with to enjoy. I’m glad you are enjoying it on audio :) Have a great week!!

    • Yeah, I tried the Chernow earlier this year after we moved and it was a pretty awful time to do it. Hoping this will be a bit better.

September seemed to fly by for me but the school activities picked up so I am sure that’s why. I am having a hard time believing that it’s October 3rd. I keep checking. Nice book stack. I am reading Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. Gawd, it’s ancient but I’ve been wanting to read it forever and it’s really good.

    • I thought all the school stuff would make September fly by, but for some reason it seemed like it lasted forever! Now I can’t really believe it’s October ;)

  • Wonder Women is another book I have coming up sometime soon. I’m hoping it’ll one my kids might like to read, too!

  • Amanda

I’m glad you liked Wonder Women too! I’m trying to review it as well. The Guineveres is one I haven’t heard of but just the title and cover have me curious so obviously I’m off to goodreads to probably add to my TBR!

  • I definitely felt like I was reading Hamilton for a million years, but I hope the audio works for you (and that you find some naptime soon)!

  • I NEED Wonder Women in my life – I’ve already seen it twice on blogs this week, and I think it would be so perfect for my students!!

  • Ha, I don’t think I’d ever have read Hamilton in full if I hadn’t done it for a readalong! A book that massive requires reading buddies!

  • Heather

I felt like September flew by, but that’s probably because I was on leave for the first two weeks of it and didn’t have to write the date every day. So before I knew it I was writing dates that were already halfway through the month and then September was over.

How’s The Guineveres going? I’ve seen it around a lot lately.

  • I really want to tackle Hamilton, but I’m not sure about the length. I’ll wait to see how audio goes for you.

  • I really enjoyed Wonder Women too! I’m excited to read your review :)
