Washing Machines – Why Everyone is Now Using Machines

Washing machines are one of the greatest inventions of the industrial era, although historically, the first ones were mere barrel-shaped drums with manually-operated wringers. Nevertheless, washing machine manufacturers didn’t stop working on improvements until they came up with highly functioning, state-of-the-art technology to make clothes-washing a not so tedious task.

Researche4s have come up with estimates that as many as 840 million washing machines are in use worldwide, not only in households but also in laundromats and textile factories. However, climate scientists have been trying to educate us about the environmental impact of CO2 and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as results of intensive energy use using electricity.

Currently, washing machines alone are responsible for the annual consumption of about nineteen billion cubic meters of water and emissions of around sixty-two million tonnes of Carbon Dioxide every year.

Yet now more than ever, we have become dependent on washing machines or laundromat services. That being the case, it’s expected that the numbers will continue to grow, since additional families will likewise be needing their own washing machines

The Front-Loading Washing Machines as Better Choice than the Top-Loading Models

Actually, washing machine manufacturers came up with a front-loading model as a way to alleviate their impact on the environment. There is an urgent need to address the issues since even in India, e-commerce company Flipkart reported that in the past six months, the demand for energy-efficient washing machines have more than doubled.

Apparently, the demand is for front load washing machines because they have been proven as capable of working with greater efficiency in terms of washing performance as they offer varying types of cleaning functions.

Moreover, they offer better flexibility as they have larger wash drums capacity and require less bending actions when loading and unloading clothes. Front load washers can perform a variety of cleaning actions and in varying capacity levels. The wash drums are larger than the top load models as they can handle up to 20 pounds of clothes. A front load washing machine does not have an impeller or agitator, as the drum does the cleaning by rotating and tumbling the load. Moreover, the washing process requires only minimal amounts of water since washing does not need to fully submerge the garments.
